The Daniel Matto Quintet will be releasing their new album 'Im Old Fashioned' in Spring 2010. The album, recorded at The Sonic Temple in Halifax, includes some of Daniel's original tunes and features guest artists pianist Silvio Pupo Montero and cellist Shimon Walt.

16th November
On Sunday, Dec 6th at 12 noon Daniel will be performing with the John
Alphonse Quintet as part of the Christmas Daddies Telethon on CTV.
And on Tuesday Dec 8th, Daniel and pianist Holly Arsenault will be performing at Stayner's Wharf in Halifax for the annual Kiwanis Music Festival fundraiser.
In the meantime, Daniel and the quintet are in the studio putting together their new album to be released in Spring 2010. Stay tuned for some sneak peaks coming soon...

"Daniel performing on the 25th Annual IWK Health Centre Telethon for Children on CTV May 30"
As part of the annual IWK telethon, Daniel will be performing with the John Alphonse Big Band live on CTV. The two segments will be televised at approximately 10pm and 10:30pm.
The IWK Health Centre provides quality care to women, children, youth and families in the Maritime provinces and beyond. In addition to providing highly specialized (tertiary) care, the IWK also provides primary care services. The IWK is also engaged in leading-edge research; works to promote healthy lifestyles for families; and supports education opportunities for health professionals and other learners.
Donors can honour their pledges through the IWK Foundation (www.iwkfoundation.org) or at any Royal Bank in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island.

On Valentine’s Day 2009 Daniel will making a guest appearance with Halifax's Rhapsody Quintet. See below for the press release:

Celebrate Valentine's Day with Halifax's Rhapsody Quintet
(www.rhapsodyquintet.com), in a romantic evening of well-loved music on Saturday, February 14 at Stayner's Wharf Pub & Grill. Fresh from their new recording, Rhapsody by Request, Rhapsody will be joined at Stayner's by special guest, Daniel Matto.
Stayner's is located at 5075 George St. - beside the Halifax Ferry Terminal on the Halifax waterfront. Admission is $10. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. and runs into 12:00.
Rhapsody will be performing selections from their new recording (Halifax Herald's Steve Cooke's “Pick of the Week” CD) featuring everything from tangos to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, with jazz standards such as Body and Soul, All Blues, All the Things You Are, Caravan and The Girl from Ipanema.
Halifax singer Daniel Matto most recently performed in a sold-out Pops show with Symphony Nova Scotia - “All Sinatra concert worth waiting for…Matto's middle register, especially in songs like Moonlight in Vermont and April in Paris, glows with warmth and resonance, much like that of ol' blue eyes himself (Halifax Herald, 1/11/09).

Unfortunately, on October 17th, Daniel developed a sudden, severe case of viral laryngitis and was unable to perform with Symphony Nova Scotia. He received medical attention, and was advised that performing could permanently damage his vocal cords. Thankfully, Daniel has since fully recovered, and is eagerly looking forward to performing on Friday, January 9th 2009.
The Symphony and Dalhousie Arts Centre staff are currently following up with October 17th ticket purchasers. For purchasers who are able to attend the January 9th performance, they are asked to keep their October 17th tickets and bring them to the performance on January 9th. Their tickets and seats will be honoured as if they had originally been purchased for the January 9th concert.
Daniel would like to thank Symphony Nova Scotia, Walt Music and his fans for their support during this time.
Daniel was able to perform with the Symphony on October 20th in Sydney, Nova Scotia for a sold out audience. He will be performing again with the Symphony in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on November 12th at TH’YARC Playhouse.

Daniel has been asked to perform with Symphony Nova Scotia in their 2008-09 Traditional Pop Series. On October 17th, 2008. Daniel and the Symphony will collaborate to salute the legendary songbook of Frank Sinatra.

Daniel is branching out and lending his voice to the narration and characters of Alice’s Wonderland in the Coastal Dance Theatre production of ‘Alice in Winterland’ running from the 27th November to the 9th December at Alderney Landing Theatre in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

In between a ton of private shows and functions, Daniel recently completed recording an Adrian Whitehead composition 'Hide and Seek'.
The cabaret flavoured tune will feature in the independent short film 'The Full Circle' written and directed by young Melbourne film-maker Jill Lister. 'Hide and Seek' will premier at the ACMI Cinema in Federation Square, Melbourne, on December 17th, 2006, as part of the upcoming short film festival. So check it out!

Daniel Matto is performing at the Atlantic Jazz Festival in Halifax, Canada, in July. An international tour is always a good indication of a quality performer, and Daniel Matto is just that.
At the jazz festival and at gigs in neighboring towns in Canada, he is sure to gain some well-deserved exposure.
